Project Overview:

Raymond Higgs (1940 - 2017) was an accomplished artist best known for his wood reduction engravings. He lived with the artist Jenny Cowern in North Cumbria.

For this project, I was asked to photograph a body of 118 works, ranging from large wall hanging pieces to small etchings. The emphasis was to record the subtleties of each piece - including the paper it was printed on. I used a carefully constructed lighting setup to ensure even results and a precise colour-managed workflow to accurately capture the smallest shifts in tone. The results are a lasting record of the artwork.
